Scope:Leukocyte procoagulant activity (PCA) is accepted as an important component in the onset of disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC). DIC is common in acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL) and other forms of cancer 1-5. DIC in cancer patients is often observed afterinitiation of therapy with cytotoxic oncology drugs that act by altering DNA replication (e.g.,doxorubicin, daunorubicin, and vincristin)3, 6.
